Johanna Trescher
geb. 1933, USAIn 1938, when I was 5 years old, my mother, Camilla Guttmann Trescher, my grandfather, Karl Edgar Guttmann and I fled from our home in Vienna to escape the persecution and murder of the Jews. We settled in the United States. I still have a few memories of Vienna; the apartment where I lived; the park where my father used to take me; and most of all, my father (who was not Jewish) whom I had to leave behind.
“Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me.”
